Ice Cream – Vanilla

I think I got this recipe from mom.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 Cup sugar
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 T. flour
  • 1 pt. heavy cream
  • 2 ½ qt. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Put 1 ½ Cup sugar, the flour, egg yolks and 1 qt. of milk into a heavy saucepan or double boiler.
  2. Bring to boiling point while stirring constantly.
  3. Cool.
  4. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
  5. Stir in the remaining sugar, salt and vanilla.
  6. Pour remaining milk and the cream in a gallon size freezer can.
  7. Slowly add and stir in the 2 other mixtures.
  8. Freeze and eat. Or, pack to ripen if you prefer.
