Cranberry Sauce – Grand Marnier Stovetop

Serves 8

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice berries (ground)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup Grand Marnier orange liqueur
  • Zest and juice of 1 orange

Directions:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a heatproof glass bowl or pyrex measuring cup.
  2. Heat the sugar and water mixture in the microwave until it comes to a boil and the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Pour the sugar and water mixture, the cranberries, orange zest and spices into a sauce pan.
  4. Bring the cranberries to a boil and boil uncovered for 10 minutes.
  5. Mash slightly with a potato masher.
  6. Continue to boil until thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool for 3 minutes.
  8. Stir in Grand Mariner and orange juice.
  9. Chill in an ice bath.
  10. Freeze or store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
