Taco Seasoning – Randy’s 2023

This recipe tastes good, it is just slightly spicy if you eat the meat by itself but it goes well with cheese and sour cream.

If you want a very mild recipe, cut the cayenne pepper in half.

If you want a medium, slightly spicy recipe, cut the cayenne pepper to 3/4.

Ingredients for 1 lb. of hamburger:

  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons onion powder
  • 3.5 teaspoons paprika
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1.5 teaspoons beef bullion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat 2/3 cup of water per pound of meat in the microwave.
  2. Whisk the spice mix into the water until dissolved.
  3. Brown the meat and drain the grease.
  4. Stir in the spice and water mixture.
  5. Heat until most of the water has evaporated and the meat is evenly coated.

Ingredients for 4 lbs. of hamburger:

  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 Tablespoons onion powder
  • 4 Tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 Tablespoons beef bullion powder
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 4 teaspoons cornstarch

Ingredients for 6 lbs. of hamburger:

  • 1 Tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 Tablespoons garlic powder
  • 3 Tablespoons onion powder
  • 7 Tablespoons paprika
  • 3 Tablespoons ground cumin
  • 3 Tablespoons beef bullion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 Tablespoon oregano
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch

Bulk Recipe (Makes 16 pounds of meat):

Use 4 Tablespoons of bulk seasoning per pound of hamburger. Makes about 4 cups which should fit in a large Member’s Mark style spice container.

  • 1.33 ounces (by volume) cayenne pepper
  • 4 ounces (by volume) garlic powder
  • 4 ounces (by volume) onion powder
  • 9.33 ounces (by volume) paprika
  • 4 ounces (by volume) ground cumin
  • 4 ounces (by volume) beef bullion powder
  • 1.33 ounces (by volume) sea salt
  • 1.33 ounces (by volume) oregano
  • 2.66 ounces (by volume) cornstarch
