Rust Remover – Non-Acidic

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 liter h20
  • 100 g citric acid
  • 40 g Sodium Carbonate (Washing Soda) or 63 g Baking Soda or 30 g Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide / Lye)
  • 2 teaspoons fabric softener or dish soap (surfactant)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Add acid to water.
  • It will fizz and give off C02
  • The result is Monosodium Citrate and some disodium Citrate Salts.
  • Instead of a PH of 1 for citric acid, this is a PH of 4. (1000 x less acidic than citric acid.
  • Add a couple of teaspoons of liquid fabric softener as a surfactant. If you don’t have fabric softener, you could substitute dish soap.
