History
I created this site so I could remember ingredients for my favorite recipes while I was shopping. It grew organically into the site you see today.
This site is divided into Recipes, Cleaners and potions, and Guides:
- Recipes that are marked as “Test Recipe” are ones I found online, in old church cookbooks, or created on paper but haven’t tested. Don’t expect them to work or taste good. All the other recipes are very good and the best are categorized as Family Favorites.
- Guides are the blog portion of this site. They outline some of the projects I have done and my opinions on various topics. They are strictly my opinions and they are probably worth the price you pay to read them. I hope to expand this section in the future.
- Cleaners and potions are recipes that you don’t eat. From household cleaners to hand lotion.
Common Questions and Answers:
Q: Why do you try to always use lowercase for teaspoon and uppercase for Tablespoon?
A: The small “t” vs. big “T” denotation makes it easier for me to recognize the difference. I have mixed these up before and the results were disastrous. Imagine putting in 2 Tablespoons of baking soda or salt or pepper when the recipe called for 2 teaspoons. I have been there. I have done that.
Q: Why can’t I find things on your site?
A: The recipe section is categorized by course, cooking method and region. The menu breaks it down by course but the Recipes page breaks it down even further. Categories are subject to interpretation. Is chili a stew or a soup or a meat dish? If I can’t find what I want via the menus, I usually just use the search function at the bottom of every page and post.
